Dr. Bemis has extensive experience providing psychotherapy to diverse populations in inpatient and outpatient settings. Her clinical expertise includes implementing evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), standard dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), DBT-ACES, cognitive behavioral analysis system therapy of psychotherapy (CBASP), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

She received training in the rigorous APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She oversaw the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry, CBT/DBT clinic as the Assistant Clinical Director and supervised psychology externs.

​

Her clinical and research interests include borderline personality disorder, emotion dysregulation, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, trauma, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, postpartum mental health, academic or vocational challenges, identity or role transitions, and grief and loss.


​Dr. Bemis fosters a warm, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive environment where clients can feel safe to share their innermost vulnerabilities. She validates her clients' emotions while gently challenging them to discover alternative perspectives. Her therapeutic stance is egalitarian, emphasizing the importance of a collaborative client-therapist alliance. She values receiving constructive feedback as establishing a genuine and authentic therapeutic relationship cultivates trust and is an opportunity for learning and growth.
